PT Samator Aneka Gas Industri (Samator), a leading industrial gas producer in Indonesia, has significantly enhanced its operational efficiency and inter-departmental collaboration following the successful implementation of Google Workspace. This strategic move, guided by Google Cloud Premier Partner PointStar, has empowered Samator’s extensive workforce to overcome previous communication hurdles and embrace a more agile, real-time approach to business processes.
Streamlining Communication Across a Vast Network
With over three thousand employees and a sprawling network of more than 60 filling stations and 15 industrial gas plants across Indonesia, Samator faced considerable challenges in ensuring seamless collaboration and information synchronization. Previously, attempts to collaborate on documents were cumbersome and time-consuming, hindering productivity. The existing email system also suffered from uptime issues, with a 95% uptime rate meaning that 5% of the time, users could not send or access crucial emails, impacting business continuity. Recognizing the need for a robust and reliable solution, Samator sought to prioritize collaboration, effectiveness, and synchronization across all devices.
"The uptime in Google Workspace is according to Google’s service level agreement (that is) 99%, the best though," said Mr. Dedy Setiawan, Manager of IT Infrastructure of Samator.
PointStar: Guiding Digital Transformation
PointStar played a pivotal role in Samator’s digital transformation journey. As a Google Cloud Premier Partner, PointStar facilitated the migration of 1,737 users to Google Workspace. This involved more than just a technical switch; PointStar’s team conducted comprehensive on-site training at Samator’s offices, focusing on a “train the trainer” approach. This ensured that Samator’s internal team could then effectively cascade knowledge of Google Workspace throughout the organization, fostering widespread adoption and maximizing the benefits of the new platform.
Embracing a New Era of Collaborative Work
The implementation of Google Workspace has revolutionized how Samator’s employees work together. The most significant improvement has been in document collaboration. Where previously accessing and co-editing the same document was a major obstacle, Google Workspace now allows multiple team members to work on the same file simultaneously, with changes reflected in real-time. This has been particularly impactful for processes like production reporting, where shift changes and hourly output updates can be logged instantly in a shared digital log sheet.
Â
Beyond enhanced collaboration, Samator is also benefiting from the reliability and efficiency of Google Workspace. The platform’s 99.9% uptime Service Level Agreement (SLA) from Google ensures that communication channels remain consistently available, a stark improvement over their previous system. This newfound stability, coupled with improved time effectiveness and seamless synchronization across devices, has significantly streamlined business processes, allowing tasks that once took hours or days to be completed in seconds. Furthermore, the ability to conduct online meetings through Google Workspace has reduced the need for frequent face-to-face meetings, saving valuable time and resources, especially for a company with operations spread across the archipelago.
Â
The successful adoption of Google Workspace, with the expert guidance of PointStar, has enabled Samator to accelerate its business processes, from production to distribution. The ability for different divisions to access and update information instantly has led to a more dynamic and responsive operational environment, positioning Samator for continued growth and success in the digital era.
