Admins can set lower limits, but maximum limits are applied.

No maximum limit for users. Shared drives have a default 100 GB limit. Admins can choose to set user, group, organizational unit (OU), and shared drive limits. No maximum on what limit they can set.

Storage-minded file sizes

Microsoft file sizes are often larger than the equivalent Google file type. For example, a 10 KB DOCXfile is about 1 KB when converted to a Google Doc.

Security

ISO standard file types such as DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, DOC, PPT, XLS are susceptible to viruses and malware/ransomware

Files stored on Google Drive are less susceptible to viruses or malware. Google files (Docs, Sheets, Slides) cannot be encrypted by ransomware.

Versioning

In a Microsoft environment, files are often copied and versioned.

Google File types rely on collaborative engagement and a single file, even when shared by email. Version history is available for all files so you can see versions without making multiple files.
